Hello everyone
why is that only ODS used for the real time datasources and not the infocubes as infocubes are better for reporting purpose.
second question can real time datasources built on the generic datasources??
thanks
Even if the req is open the same can be closed by 'close request of realtime info packgae". So it does not matter, if you use a cube or a DSO. But why DSO is used now is may be the reporting is at detailed level. This my feel.

Why ODS for real time.
Since data is immediately available for reporting and we have an open request we have a specific update processing for the data target (with a special DTP). This has currently only been implemented for DataStore Object by SAP.
Can generic datasources be built as REAL TIME datasources.

Hi chandra karnat,
usually real time data means lot of data being collected.
For that kind of application, ODS is the preferred structure.
Typical OLTP Versus OLAP kind of argument.
