currency code changeover

Hi SAP Gurus,

Need some expert opinions;

In our SAP system currency code 'TKC" has been defined as Czeck Republic's local currency instead of 'CZK'. Now we want to change the currency code from 'TKC' to 'CZK' with same exchange rates etc. I understand that the fixed-key date approach is the best practice for the same but the only concern I have is that what will happen to the data alreday posted for future Fiscal Years with TKC code, if we change the CZK now.

If the translation ratio and the exchange rates are maintained between TKC and CZK, then the existing entries with old TKC will have no issues. May be the expired currency option can be used for TKC to restrict users to make any transaction in that currency.

Thanks for your quick reply Ashok.

I just got the reply from SAP and they suggested the same too. Unfortunately the reply is not clear but they referred two options (1) Fixed key-date and (2) Expired Currency. So I think you are correct for expired currency option.

One more quick question - do we have to run any conversion program to take care of the cutomer-specific tables and customer developments in SAP?

I dont think there is any need for any conversion program. Ensure that no custom development is hardcoded with old currency

Hello Ashok,

OK. To my understanding if we put TKC as an expired currency - it is no longer possible to post in past fiscal years. But can we generate reports for prior years in TKC or we will get the reports in CZK?
