Hi all...

I have a query...

When we define a program of Study or module we define minimum, maximum and optimum credits, But in Indian senario mostly we define maximum or minimum marks with respect to modules. So how do we define the module min and max marks in my senario.

Do it demands customization..

Or please tell me some sollution if you have??

Thanks a lot

Hi Ankit,

Give the credits to the module . When you want to define marks , you should do customization under appraisals and always give marks while doing appraisals using the sacle defined in customization.

Define a scale with marks and you can exactly use while grading for the students .

In help.sap.com , create academic scales subtopic gives a detailed knowledge related to this.

Hi Gaja,

Thanks for all your support,

Sorry I disturb u again and again...

I am not able to understand how I calculate overall GPA for the student...

I saw the XL in sap.help (creating academic scales).. I am using $ scale system.

I have given the grade to the student for modules...but how will I calculate overall GPA for the student.?

Please tell me step by step how I should get the result in 4 scale system.

Thanks in advance...

Hi ,

The GPA's are calculated using the marks and credit of the module in usual scenario .

No standard reports for the grading in IS-HER , so we used customizing zprograms .

Ankita,

Please refer to the Cookbook in my sticky post that explains how to set up your GPA and module scales. The spreadsheet is actually not necessary if you use the simplified method in the cookbook.

Also, for the GPA calculation, you need to use an appropriate Performance Index. There is a BADI implementation called 'GPA1' that you should make sure is active:

IMG: Campus Management -> CM Master Data -> Performance Indices -> BADI: Performance Index Calculation

Use that Calculation in a Performance Index for Overall GPA (make sure you use your defined GPA academic scale here):

IMG: Campus Management -> CM Master Data -> Performance Indices -> Define Academic Performance Indices

Then, you should assign this Performance Index to a Calculation Point, such as Academic Work Overview (AW01).

IMG: Campus Management -> CM Master Data -> Performance Indices -> Assign Performance Indices to Calculation Points

Once you do that, you will be able to see the Overall GPA in the Student File if you open the student's Academic Work Overview.

Hi Michael ,

In performance indices , the calculation of GPA is bit complex .

In Indian scenario , the GPA calculation is simple .

GPA of 1 term = Total grades / total credits

Eg : A + B + A + A / 8 [ where A = 4 ; B = 3 and the credit value is 2 for each module ]

Total grades = sum ( grade * credit ) = 30

GPA = 30 / 8 = 3.75 .

If I want to do like this calculation what is the best way to do it ....do a customization in the badi ....r...? I felt it would to be better to built a GPA functionality as customers wish .....

Every university has their own GPA functionality for each degree .....though the system supports various scales ....the calculation of GPA is not so fine .....

In badi --- method calculate it takes the norm value (standard value in the grade ) which really we dont require in the calculation and gives the result in the form of y ( in calculate method )

Can the PI calculation acheived functionally ?

One more query regarding the same ....I like to have seperate PI 's for two independent programs . ...

When R S - Program 1 ; T U - Program 2 . When I define in AW01 - acadmic work all gets displayed ,,,,where I except only R S or T U to be dispalyed according student's study .

Help me out in this ...

Thanks in advance !!!!

Hi Gajalakshmi,

I am following the same calculation formula for GPA adopted by you. Could you let me know whether PI GPA1 is sufficient enough to calculate or i have to write a code in BAdi HRPIQ00SI2_PINDX_CAL using Method u201CCALCULATEu201D.

Also, did you used anything for CGPA calculation.
