SEM BCS: Breakdown Category and Default values

Former Member

Hi! All,

Scenario: I have defined Breakdown Category 1000 with selection for Trading Partner and Cons. Profit Center as

“ Entry is forced, default allowed”. I am using C11 cube with Cons. Unit characteristic for Company and Cons. Profit Center. I have Dummy Cons. Profit Center 7777 assigned to all companies and 7777 has been defined as default value for Cons. Profit Center. I am trying to upload the reported data through flex upload and the Breakdown Category is assigned to I/C A/P and A/R items in the upload file. The file also includes Trading Partner and Cons. Profit Center field. In the brakdown category default selection, I have cons. PC 7777 and all company codes for companies.

Yet when I load the data, I constantly get this message:

Breakdown Item 120000 by Partner Cons. PC – Required breakdown not filled (while it has been filled out for 120000)

Combination /600 of characteristic Partner Cons. PC/Trading Partner does not exist ( Company 600 – Loading data for company 500 with 600 as Trading Partner)

Can anyone throw light on this....the system should pick up and insert the default value for Partner Cons. PC..

Thanks for your earliest attention.

Best Regards,

Victor

Victor,

AFAIK,

Entry is forced, default allowed means that you should explicitly provide a value (default value is acceptable). The system throws an error in case of missing value.

In order to force the system instead of missing value use the default one, apply

If blank the default value is used

Hi!

Initially, I was trying to use different Breakdown values for Trading Partner and Cons. Profit Center like

For Trading Partner – Required Breakdown: Entry is forced, default not allowed

For Cons. Profit Center - Required Breakdown: If blank, default value is allowed

Using this combination was giving the error : Combination of Cons. Profit Center / Trading Partner do not exist. So, I changed the above to “ Entry is forced, Default allowed”. Yet I got the same error. This was resolved by your answers.

However, to choose different Breakdown Category for TP and Cons. PC, we applied OSS note # 1048319, the application of which enables you to choose different breakdown categories without the Getting the error “Combination of Cons. Profit Center / Trading Partner do not exist”.

Thanks for your earliest attention.

If I am interpreting the error message correctly, it appears that a record is missing the cons profit center. Because entry is forced, the default is not automatically used.

Hi Victor,

Have you entered the allowed combinations of consolidation units?

Hi! Eugene & Dan,

I have asigned the Dummy Profit center to Companies in Cons. Unit Combinations. I assume this is where the system should pick up the combinations.

Secondly, Dan your interpretation is correct. If the Cons. Profit Center is included in the upload, the message remains for missing combinations. Even if the Cons.Profit Center is not included in the upload, then the system should use default value for Cons. Profit Center. Even after changing the BC rule, its not picking up and inserting the Cons. Profit Center.

Thanks & Regards,

Victor

Thanks,
