UOM Quantiies question

I have an issue that I have been struggling with for a few days now and I cannot figure this one out. Here is what I am trying to accomplish:

I would like to be able to buy 1 box of nails for $26.65. I want the system to know that that box contains 8200 nails. That way when I use the production piece to build a pallet, it will use 72 nails out of inventory and figure out the cost of that 72 nails (based off of the box price of $26.65).

We are on 9.2 PL 3

Hi Chris,

If the box and number of nails per box is standard use the multiple UOM option from Administration-->Setup-->Inventory-->Units of Measure else you can proceed as below

In purchase entry GRPO/AP invoice enter Qty as 1 box . In the same row use the field " Items per Unit " in this provide the 8200 qty . Now enter the price $26.65 in unit price. Now system will consider the item cost per number of nail.

So while at issue for production with 72 nails the cost will be considered for 72 alone.
