Updating operation type SMIV to SOLMAN 7.2

Hello guys, we are using solman 7.1 SP12 for VAR and now we want to upgrate to SOLMAN 7.2 SP5. The problem is that we didn´t copy SMIV to ZMIV on Solman 7.1 and we have a lot of opens incidents with SMIV operation type.

Do you know what happen with those incidents if we upgrade to SOLMAN 7.2 ? Are they gonna be deleted? Are they gonna still excisting?

Can you help me?

    Renata - your best option (in my opinion) is to use embedded BW that comes with Solution Manager, and then the data is not lost; you can always report on it.

    Hi Renata Azevedo

    First of all you have not copied the standard to z* which is recommendation from SAP so definitely your process will be impacted as there are multiple things which has come up in 7.2 and not available in 7.1 in transaction types as well.

    SAP has given content activation procedure which allows the data to be selected i.e. Projects/Solution as per your relevance.

    For incident there is no dedicated content activation however you still need to configure incident management as per your case in 7.2 as the architecture is changes.

    kindly check the above links as it does cover many common queries and issues which other customer have already faced.

    Business role are not updated automatically so you need to adapt them accordingly like plenty of fields have been removed from standard so you need to check for your case.

    similarly authorizations are also changed as well so you need to check them again.

    e.g. Do you plan to use new Incident creation tile then you need to set it up.....

    further the workcenter are completely gone and we have completely FIORI based launchpad so you need to setup for your users and your teams new TILES accordingly.

    Its a complete functional+Technical upgrade from solman 7.1 to 7.2 so I would suggest kindly try this by clonning your production first to get more better picture if you don't have development systems etc.

    • Hello Renata,

      We have upgraded many solman systems to 7.2 version so far but this never happens and it will not happen even mentioned in sap documentation for upgrade as well.

      Basically the architecture is changed for new version so you will see many new things and to make use of older things you need to perform content activation in terms of transaction type/new actions/new feature etc.

      hence you can see older tickets as well or search on them after upgrade anyway(ofcourse you need to adapt in 7.2 version)

      Therefore nothing is lost for sure unless you have done some custom development BADI etc which needs explicit adaptation or re-implementation in 7.2 version.
