Hi All,

We have an urgent issue in Asset Accouting regarding calculation of depreciation. Till now our client not run the depreciation from the go-live date. Its golive date is 01.04.2006. The problem is, depreciation is calculating from the Depreciation start date and if any aquisitions was happened, it is calculating from the depreciation date only not from acquisition date.

Prasad

Hi,

Thanks for ur response, till now we were not run the depreciation from the golive date, now they were reconciling the depreciation in AW01N with manually for the last fiscal year 2007 to run the depreciation. In the asset transfer date(IMG) it is showing 31.03.2005. I think somebody changed the take over date in asset transfer date. In Asset explorer (AW01N) it is showing difference value in Ordinary depreciation while comparing with manual depreciation and also in AS92 it is not showing the take over values getting green colour message as "Asset was not created as old asset data record - (Check your entry)" I had checked in development server. if I changed the Asset Transfer date it is asking the recalcuate the depreciation. My doubt this is correct solution, if it is correct shall I do this directly in Production. Kindly helpme in this issue.

Hi,

check the Validity Start in AFAMS in your case It should be From Capitalisation Date. Also check the period controls for the Addtional Acquisitions.

Hope this will resolve your query.

Hi

Change the depreciation start date... if you are giving to the system both depreciation start date and asset valuation date.... system will take depreication start date only. So change the depreciation start date ..i think it is the only available solution for your problem

Hi Prasad

As Bird mentioned in his reponse, please check the asset master record for the dep start date. I hope you are creating a sub asset for the addition to the existing assets.

Thanks

Ashok

Hi,

Thanks for ur reply, here they were not created any sub assets till now. I will explain u clearly

Asset No. 30009 - 0

Capitalised on 30.09.2003

Depreciation start date is 01.04.2006

Asset Value Date is 31.03.2007

It is calculating depreciation from the date 01.04.2006 for the APC value and also the aquisition happened in 31.03.2007. But it has to calculate from the date of 31.03.2007 for the aquisition posted in 31.03.2007.

Hi Prasad

In the config, there is a date parameter (under the legacy asset transfer)where you can specify that the depreciation has been posted upto period 03 2006. Then the system will start dep from 1.4.2006.

thanks

Hi Sir,

I had checked in AS92, there the dep. start is 01.04.2006 and capitalised date is 30.09.2003.

Hi,

Normally, the system determines the depreciation start date from the asset value date of the first acquisition posting.

However, you can also manually enter a calendar date in the asset master record for the start of depreciation. In that case, the system ignores the asset value date of the acquisition posting.

ur requirement like KK's case..

Hi,

Thanks for ur reply, but it has to calculate from the aquisition date for the second aquisition. Otherwise they has to change always the depreciation date.
