Think of it like an visible attribute of your PLD fields. If the expression in your related link is 0 or null, your field will be invisible in your report. You can use formulas too with the links.

For example : You have a multi lingual report. You want to show your item description in english or in a foreign language, base on your BP's language.

So you will need a datafield to contain your BP Language code. Then you create two formulas BPLang = 2 for english and BPLang != 2.. Then you link the description with the first Formula and the foreign description with the second. You can't show a field with a "false" statement, that's why you need two formulas

Hi!

The "Link to" field is a type of field dependency. Consider a text field, for eg,. 'Fax no' (Field_019) and corresponding database field 'BP:Fax number' (Field_020) . If these fields are linked using "Link to", the document which dose'nt contain any fax number in Database will get not displayed along with text field too.

it's advandage to hide such empty fields.

To do this enter the field id in "link to" box, i.e Field_019 to the "link to" of DB properties and Field_020 to Text field properties.
