Document Management options for SAP CPM 2.0 SP06

Hello SDN network - We are currently implementing SAP CPM 2.0 SP06 in our environment to help with operations project management. We have a requirement to store related documentation within CPM for the project manager to reference. These could include drawings, customer specs, etc. There are options to attach directly in CPM, but this saves on SAP APP server - so we do not prefer this option. There are options to link out to a document store - but this option seems primitive. We would like to integrate to one of our existing DMS systems (like AnyDocs, OpenText.) Does anyone have advice on best way to proceed - best practice for document management within CPM, or link to some reference material - options for document management within CPM. Really appreciate any help - Jim T.

The Document Overview tab utilizes ECC Document Info Records (DIRs) to access documents, but this requires configuring ECC Document Management.

It is easy enough to set the storage location to an external system and use the File Attachment points throughout CPM (ie, Master Project, Risk Register, Issues and Change Requests). This facilitates loading the document directly through CPM.

To easily integrate an existing DMS system you could use the URL attachment and link to your DMS document, but first the document has to be loaded in that system.
