1) what is stock transport order ?

2) where and when it is used ?

3) example ?

Hi Amitabh,

Stock transport order,

if client have many plant and stock is been transfered to each other then we need to set up this , because inter stock transfer we dont need to pay tax.

so one plant can do sales and another plant can do manufacturing within company code.

or component can be manufactured in another plant and transfered to another plant for assembly or finished goods

Hi,

When companies have multiple plants and assy of a plant may be used as a raw material for a different plant. In that case STO is used to transfer the assy from one plant to other plant.

In the material master Special procurement key we can maintain special procurement 40. When making the Purchase order the Item category will be Stock transfer " U" .

Hi Amithab,

STO- Stock Transport Order is a type of PO document used to move material from 1 plant to another plant whcih are physically separated.

As explained above you can asses the sitaution for examples.
