What is the use of below syntax in ALV report.

DATA I_LINES LIKE SY-TABIX.

It would depend on the code after this. Check to see where the variable "I_LINES" gets used.

SY-TABIX means Table Index. This signifies the number of table index. Each row of a table has certain index or counter. The value of sy-tabix for the last entry would be equivalent to number of table entries.

u are just creating another object which just has the characteristics of sy-tabix (internal table index).

u many use I_lines in your program instead to use sy-tabix again and again.
