Crytal Reports - Database Connection error

Former Member

We access Crystal reports from a .net application that is running on IIS 8.0 on Windows Server 2012. These are new servers and all reports are working fine in our old environment. We copied all reports to the new env some of the reports work and some give "Database connection error". The fix is it to simply open the report and click on verify database and choose the right datasource. So if we do this in DEV the report works fine and the same report can be copied to UAT and PROD .... since it actually takes the database connection parameters from web.conf file. Since we have close to 300 reports trying to find if we are missing anything ... some kind of global setup that can be set once and fix all the reports.

Hi Anita,

You never said how old those reports are? It could be the new OS changed the DB Client used so since rpt file keep the connection and table info it manually needs to be updated.

Search for ReplaceConnection() and you'll be able to update the connection info at runtime, save the update report once it has been updated.
