R/3 Extraction

Hi Friends,

I have 10 Millions records in R/3 and I wanted to get only 5 millions records to BW.We can define "Selection" at info package level, but at the infopackage level we can specify only like for example data for 2006 or 2005.

D we have an option in R/3 where we can limit the number of records being loaded

Please share your experience if any one has come across this type of situation.

Full points

Thanks

The easiest way to do that is recognize a filter that allow you to manage the quantity of records are comin in a request....for example normally fiscyear is a good aproach...iyou can make one load for every year and you can get many packages with less records in each one...and not only one with 10 milllion records....

Hi Syed,

First analyze your data on R/3 side. See how many records come up for your selection crieteria (try the same selection crieteria ie year 2005 or 2006) and based on that try to load a year'w worth or break it into months so you can have control on number of data records.

if this does not work out then try changing the slection crieteria ie adding more selection crieteria which will suit your development. this is the only way you can solve this if the above solution does not work.

Hope this helps.

I don't think you can manage that in R/3 side, only in infopackage level, and with IP you won't know the number of records you would get without loading. If you want to limit the number of records loaded, first in RSA3 for specific range know how many package it is returning and what are the number of records by package, then after that you can come close to what you actually want to load, not too much manual work with this method.

thanks.
