Life cycle planning

Hi everybody,

Problem with 5.0 version Life cycle planning, seems to me that <b>Life cycle planning</b> has two parts

1) Basic settings

2) Assignment

In Basic settings it allows you to choose a <b>chracteristic</b> for assigning the weighting profile percentages and dates, (choosing reference material).

In Assignmnet we assign the chosen reference material to a <b>characteristic combination(material, plant, customer ).</b>

Now i have a problem, If I want the reference combination to be assigned to a target combination, how do we do?? here i could see reference single characteristic is assigned to a combination of characteristics.

I am not able to understand how it runs as i am not specifying Material A from Plant A should influence the forecast of Material B Plant B. where can I specify the relation between two characteristic combinations for life cycle planning.

How to execute the life cycle planning from interactive planning or even background process?

Is there any place where I can say run the forecast profile and I can see the life cycle planning in a <b>different key figure</b>?

how do i assign a <b>different key figure</b> for forecasting through life cycle planning ?

My concentration is to see the impact of life cycle planning over a combination of characteristics in a different key figure.

Please suggest me, I am not able to figure out where to start with ...

<b>Any suggestion is greatly valuable.. I appreciate your time on this post</b>.

    Hi,

    Although i have not worked on 5.0, but i will try answering from my 4.1 exp.

    In assignment section, for the selected characteristics (in basic settings) we give only the target CVC(s). The source or reference CVC(s) are maintained in Like Profiles. So we assign the Like profile to the target characteristics combinations in the assignment screen.Although we may have to maintain multiple Like profiles along with Phase-in & phase out profiles to map a scenario.

    If you want to execute Life Cycle planning (in batch or online mode) , you need to select LC Planning Active indicator on the master forecast profile screen.

    The KF in which the forecast results will be saved depends on the Forecast KF which you select in Forecast Profile. So you may have to create a separate profile for this purpose in which you activate LC planning.

    Hi ,

    The very simple logic is follow few steps below in the same order.

    1) Make sure which level you want to run your life cycle planning in considering that you want to run in Material Plant level.

    If Item A Plant X is converting to Item B Plant X then make sure than you have quantities in Item B Plant X level on the History key figure . Here history key figure belongs to the Forecast profile history key figure.

    2) Go to Life cycle planning first screen where you need to set basic settings and donot select life profile/ phase in profile, directly hit execute, you will go to basic settings of the Life cycle planning.

    give your characteristics. Material and Plant donot select aggregated level planning. Here you are selecting Material Plant level Life cycle planning. Come back to main screen

    3) Now go to Like profile with basic settings. enter characteristic as Material and in the reference values give Item A A 100.(Like Profile Name: Like_Material A)

    Save and execute. go back and check if the values are correclty saved.

    4) Now go to Phase in profile where you will select your Ramp up percentages for Material B

    Select start date and end date then execute the transaction, if you dont give percentages in the individual values you will end up taking 100% by default.

    COme back and go to that transction again select your Time series id(Ex Rampin ) or Phase in profile id. check if the values are correct. for simplicity select 100%

    5) Now we are done with Basic settings, we need to do assignments.

    Go to assignments radio button and just execute without selecting Like profile/ Phase in profile.

    Here we assing the Material B Plant X to Like_Material A (Liek profile) and to Rampin (Phase in profile) if we wish we can give start and end date of phase in profile, but not necessary.

    6) This is the important step. You need to choose a forecast profile which works good with your plannign or make a copy of your forecast profile from the concerned plannign area, the new forecast profile name is (Life_cycle_forecasting_profile). In the master forecast profile check the Life cycle planning (Activate). Once your master profile has life cycle planning checked you can use this for life cycle planning. in the same screen you can select forecast key figure where you wish your forecast should appear. in the next screen univariate forecasting you can also specify history key figure(From where your history should be taken for forecasting purposes).

    7) Now go to the Plannign area and select your Material B with Plant X data go to forecasting and select just created forecast profile for life cycle planning Life_cycle_forecasting_profile. and run the forecast you will see the history for Material B Plant X is taken from Material A Plant X.
