Question about having database on XI server

Hello Netweaver Gurus

We are planning to install ECC, Netweaver in our lab for testing purpose which later will be converted for development.

I have a basic question regarding the installation of SQL Server used by XI and ERP.

Is it ok to use the same database for both XI and ERP. XI saves its data like mappings etc., and ERP other customer related data.

Also is it ok to have SQL database running on one machine and XI installed on another machine?

Any suggestions and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ram

    Hi Ram,

As you are already aware that XI would be having an underlying database, for quick performance, it is advisable that the databse and XI lie on the same server...however, i would not suggest that you host both your ERP system and XI on the same database...

Thanks a lot for the responses.

Good to know that XI has its own underlying database.

However, Can I have the data base (MS SQL Server) and ERP on two different boxes? Does it cause any performance issues? What will be the recommendation?

Hope to hear from you guys on this.

THanks again for all the suggestions.

XI and ERP on same machine is possible but is not a usual practice. so avoid if possible.

Better to have database and XI installed on same machine.
