Trigger SAP job

I have a simple file-to-file scenario, with no mapping. The data is sent through XI without using the Integration Repository. I poll an external FTP server and put the file on our SAP r/3 server (ED1).

My problem is I then want to trigger a SAP job. The SAP job has been set up as an event (SM62 & SM36 etc...)

I try to trigger the event using command (in the "run operating system command after message processing"):

sapevt FICO_3409_BANK_STATEMENT name=ED1 nr=00

XI does not error this - but nor does it trigger the job?

Can one of you experts please point me in the right direction? Should I be using a Unix shell script? And will the command above work in the Unix shell script? Where do I need to put the Unix shell script? Does it need to be on the XI server to be able to run it?

Thanks for your response Nilesh. The basis team have got back to me and they think that a Unix shell script will work.

I will try this first, if it doesn't work then I will look to see if the blog you suggested will work.
