Hi All,

I replicated the source system in BI and able to see the activated business content data sources in rsa1 under datasource tab. But when I double clicked on the datsource it went to the Display Emulated 3.x data source 2lis_17_ionotif page. Then I clicked on change mode and one pop up came. In that its mentioned "you can only edit 3.x DataSources using Transfer Rule maintenance do you want to create transfer rules now?". then i clicked yes and it went to BI content and I activated the datsource fully..I want to know whetehr the steps that I followed is correct or not?.. And then what i have to do as I didnt find any Info Package stuff to load to PSA?.. Shoul i need to do any migration in this case.. ?

Hi,

The datasource in used in a 3.x dataflow so it is not exactly the same concept as v7 dataflow.

In 3.X dataflow you can't activate datasource, you need to activate transfer rules and transfer structure. (or to use the standar and activate it). If you didn't find any infopackge just create it yourself. most of time they are not include in BI content dataflow. reminds taht in this flow there is no DTP.

You can make a migration but don't forget to migrate update rules and transfer rules in your transformation.

Good luck

Hi Mathwe,

Still we can load data by using 3.x Datasource. Following are the steps to load data in BI 7.0.

1. BI 7.0 allow us to create infosource of 3.xx or infosource for 7.0. According to your requirement choose any one these.

If you want to create 3.xx infosource, pls follow the navigations.

Right click on Application component and choose additional functions-> create 3.x infosource.

2. Now it allow you to create transfer rules. Please follow the navigatios..

Right click on 3.xx infosource ( it is having Square icon ) -> additional functions-> create transfer rules.

3. Now create transformations between infosorce to Infoprovider.

4. Create Infopackage to load data upto PSA.

5. Create DTP to load data from PSA to Infoprovider.

Please let me know if you need brief inforamation about this still....

Thanks,

Suresh

eventhough the system is in BI7.0,you can still use old mechanim(transfer rules, update rules etc).

but if you want to use BI7.0 mechanism like transformation, you have to migrate the data source first to 7.0,then create traformations, dtp etc

hope this helps

Is it possible for creating InfoPackage to load to PSA and transformation to the DSO or InfoCube without touching the Infosource and the transfer rules, update rules etc.. Or I need to migrate first and then go with the above steps..? I want to know whether anything to be done before creating transforamtion rules my own?

Hi Mathew,

I am assuming that you are trying to update data by using 3.xx datasource into BI.

Any datasource of type 3.xx is available in Modified version only ( after replication) in to BI. In order to activate this Datasource ( of type 3.xx) we need to create transfer rules and must assign to Infosource. Then only you will get Active version of 3.xx Datasource. From there you can create update rules from Infosource to your Data target.

And also we can create transformations for this 3.xx data source to our Data target by skipping existing Infosource alreay assigned for this datasource. By creating DTP we can load directly from these Data source to our Data target.

Correct me if I wrong..

Thanks,

Suresh MAV
