SEM-BCS: Periodic and Cumulative Combination Currency Translation Key

Former Member

Hello Experts,

Please help share your expert advice on this query.

For example:

Period 5: Manual posting was made

Period 6: No posting. But due to exchange rate difference. System should generate currency translation

Period 7; Reversal was made related to posting on period 5 via period initialization. Net, the total from period 5 to 7 is zero out already and no currency translation should be generated.

For period 6, in order for it to generate currency translation, it should be PERIODIC currency translation key.

For period 7, in order for it not to generate currency translation key, it should be CUMULATIVE currency translation key.

Right now, the system allows only ONE currency translation key either periodic OR cumulative.

Is there a technical program to have combination of periodic AND cumulative translation which we can apply on SEM-BCS?

Thank you so much for your help.

It seems to me that if you have cumulative the translation will occur in period 6 based on the new exchange rate and in period 7 the translation effect would be offset to zero as the balance is now zero. You will have activity in both periods but the balance in group currency will be zero.

With periodic there should be no translation for period 6 as there is nothing in that period to be translated.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for the help.

sorry got confused.

But the period 6 will not generate currency translation indicator '1" if I checked the total records because its not related to translation rather its related to revaluation.

Thank you.
