Transporting a Workflowdefinition to another SAP system

Hi All,

I have created a customer workflow. Now I want to transport this template to another SAP system by down- and then uploading the transportfiles.

Now it might be, that there are still workflow definitions with the same workflow identifier on the target system. So that the original workflow definitions will be lost.

Is there a possibility to bring the workflow definition into a safe namespace or range of numbers so that there is no risk in transporting my workflow definition?

Thank you for your helpful suggestions,

Marcus.

    Hello Marcus,

good call to avoid such problems, as this results in a corrupt workflow definition in the target system.

The namespace, which are the first three digits of the number range of the workflow patterns is maintained in the basis workflow customizing under "Prefix numbers for standard object types maintained" (Transaction SWU3).

Choose a different prefix than from the target system and make a copy of the template in the source system. This gives you a new workflow pattern using the new number range.

Still you have to check, if no other workflow patterns of this new number exist in the target system (e.g. due to someone who had made a cross transport).

    Best wishes,

    Florin
