how to check the data in the datasource or the name of thedatasource and other details when the data is loaded using flatfiles
The name of the data source you will see if you go soruce systrem - you will see all the files or go to the info souce and see the source system / data source assignment.
TO view the data in file data source, you need to open the file and view the data.

After right clicking on it,U get ---> Datasource Overview. Then it asks a question..So, how do u go about it.
See,I would like to make clear what I want.I am new into this project where most of data is loaded using Flatfiles. Now .everyday,I monitoring data loads through Process chains.
But ,I want to know how can ,I view the data in the flat file which is stored in Application Server.I want to knowhow I can go backwards from Bw to the data in the flat file .
One way is ,In Infopackage Screen,Under External Tab, we have File Name. From there using Drop Down we can go into AL11 and Log Files.I want to know the difference between them. Now , when I go into Al11 ,I find many diretories. So,I am getting a bit confused.
Could you please guide me and help me in this regard.I know it is a long one.But ,I need to understand the entire process ,So that ,I can solve any problem which occurs in my Project.
It is very important for me.I will assign Points.
Regards,
Poonam
Hi Poonam,
You need to check with your Basis or Server team to get the FP access. FTP is File Transfer Protocol, and once they set up your account and give you the access, you can 'log in' to the application server and navigate through the directories to find your flat file (the path will be as given in the InfoPackage).
Hope this helps...

Hi Poonam,
You need to open up the transfer structure. Here can you see the name of the datasource. Also on the Datasource tab of the InfoSource view, you can see the data by clicking the preview button, and check if the fields are corectly sequenced and mapped.
Hope this helps...
