No InfoObject Catalog in BW Modeling Tools?

We are using SAP BW 7.5 SP4 with BW/4 HANA.

I wanted to create an InfoObject Catalog and then in a second step add an InfoObject.

In BW/4 HANA you have to use the Eclipse BW Modeling Tools. I couldn't find any option to create an IOC. I could, however, create an InfoObject directly in the InfoArea. Existing IOCs were ignored, instead a folder with the name Key Figures was created.

I do not understand this. Can anyone explain? Are IOCs obsolete?

Regards,

Martin

Hi,

IOC are obsolete with SAP BW 7.50 SP04 on HANA, as also the RSD1 Support for InfoObjects is ended with the delivery of this "feature Pack" of SAP BW 7.50.

See also the Relase Notes for SP04 - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw75/helpdata/en/99/7be51cef894160b444093666ec18e0/content.htm

Note 2382919 - Report RSDG_IOBJ_IOBC_MIGRATE_TO_AREA changes Content Version of the InfoObject
Use the Report RSDG_IOBJ_IOBC_MIGRATE_TO_AREA to do the Migration of InfoObjects in Catalogs to InfoObjects in InfoAreas

Hi Roland,

we are going to migrate our BW from version 7.40 SP17 to 7.50 SP10. In follow-up activities to BW 7.50 Upgrade I found the topic about

Migrating InfoObjects from InfoObjectCatalogs to InfoAreas. This activity leads to authorizations/roles adapting.

Could you please make it clear, is it obligatory activity? I mean, will I be able to create and manage InfoObjects in BW Modeling Tools if do NOT migrate InfoObjects from InfoObjectCatalogs to InfoAreas?

Best regards, Sergey.
