Dear SCN Users,

Small query regarding SSH based authentication for SFTP.

Client has shared the public key, Do we need to import this key in NWA?

Or its enough to generate public/private key pair in NWA and share the public key to them?

Hi Raghu,

PI need to have the private key irrespective of it's a sender or a receiver and also you can generate SSH key pair from NWA you need to have some external tool like puttkeygen/openssl . Refer this thread.

Yes Manoj. that part I am clear.

When client shared the public key little confused, This can be ignored right, I don't think this a part of SSH.

In SFTP case sever need to have public key and PI needs to have private this is standard there is no two way SSH like SSL. Not sure why third party has provided you public key this is not required at all.

What you'll need from them is the SSH fingerprint of their server to configure in the system. You can find this one yourself by connecting with Putty or another SSH client once your client key is authorized to connect to the server.
What they'll need from you is the public key of the key pair you are configuring for the connection.

Thanks Guys.That clarified my doubt..
