We upgraded ERP to EHP7 and DB2 10.5 sp8 kernel 7.49. We are now missing the dmdb6bkp utility. Our DB had it in our backup scripts. Has anyone noticed or come across this? Does SAP no longer support it and has removed it?

Hello,

dmdb6bkp is no longer part of the SAP kernel delivery as of kernel 7.4x and higher. The tool was originally introduced very many years ago for scheduling Db2 backups from the DBA Cockpit. The tool became obsolete with the introduction of the ability to run backups through the Db2 ADMIN_CMD procedure back in DB2 V8.2.2.

If your scripts are still dependent on the tool you can use a version from a 7.2x kernel. But since the tool is very old and deprecated I would rather suggest to change the scripts and call the Db2 backup command directly from the script.

Torsten

Hi

As per the upgrade guide...

The following SAP tools for DB2 require a specific patch level to be able to work with DB2 10.5:

Tool Patch Level dmdb6bkp 16 brdb6brt 27

You can check the version by "dmdb6bkp -V" command
