i have just done a copy of production, copied the sap software accross and then used brtools to do a db restore on solaris and oracle.

i have gone in to db13 on my new copied test system and deleted the backups from db13 and it has deleted them out of my live production system aswell.

what is causing the conflict???

Hi Mike,

Check in DB12 - Last successfull backup or Recovery report... it must be still be pointing to the old hostname

I have always done system copies or clones to freshly installed systems or using Homogeneos system copy and follow the post installation steps.

Hi Mike,

seems like you didn't change the hostname, so the new system is still pointing to the old host... you need to make sure when you make a system copy that the host and the <sid> are different, also check the rfc's, logical systems, etc....

All that info is in the homogeneous system copy guide.

Juan
