Leave deduction to be based across consecutive years with continuous leave

Hi Experts, We have a scenario for annual leave if it is continuous across consecutively years it has to deduct from previous year quota. E.g. Quota Validity 01.01.2017 - 15.01.2018 * If the leave is taken from 25.12.2017 - 02.01.2018 it has to be deducted from (Quota Validity 01.01.2017 - 15.01.2018) * If the leave is taken from 01.01.2018 - 03.01.2018 it has to be deducted from (Quota Validity 01.01.2018 - 31.12.2018 ), long story short, a validation is required to be done on the start date of leave .. So if the leave is related to the calendar year 1 it should consider calendar year 1 and if it is related to the calendar year 2 ( or validity interval 2 ) .. to use it regardless the deduction from-to dates.

Is it doable by standard configuration .. or this will need a development .. also any clue where to start if the only doable solution to achieve this functionality is by enhancing the standard .
