Dear All,
I am facing a problem with IDES system. When I start the SAP from MMC console in windows 2003 with oracle database (ECC 5.0) the dispatcher gets stopped immediately after it tries to start the work process. All the work process ends up and dispatcher stops. But the message server and gateway service are still running.

Hi,
Error message shows that the DB could not be connected.
1.As Basu said,Check in DEfault.pfl about the database entry.
2.Also check in the instance profile file,regardding the Database entry.
3.Check if the DB is up and running.
4.Look for the DB log files and also check if there is suffiecient Data volume and LOg volume.

Hi I do have the exact problem you had described in the bottom of this thread. I do know it's closed, I have been through 400241 but cant find the reason behind, could you perhaps put a few words on the actual solution.

Hi Satya,
Thanx for your reply and I have gone through the note 50088 and I am having the OPS$ user in SAPUSER table.
when I am trying to change the password of SAPR3 through brconnect it is giving a error that SAPR3 user does not exist or it is not a sapowner.
Please tell me how to see the default password of SAPR3. But, I think my sapowner is SAPDEV which is taken at the time of installation.
When starting the instance it is taking the sapowner as SAPR3 by default even though I have set the environment variable dbs_ora_schema= SAPDEV.
Please suggest how to go about it....Thanks for your help

Hi,
> Open your command prompt, check R3trans -d command, this will tell you whether connection to DB is working fine or not. (R3trans executable is there in your kernel dir)
> If this command return non-zero return code check the trans.log, this log will be there in the folder from where you are running R3trans -d command.
Most probably you should get errror here if there is any proble with db connection. try to resolve that.
Set the environment variable dbms_type.
Also check the note 129813.

Check if the profile parameter is correctly defined in DEFAULT.PFL
dbms/type = ora
