Hi,
In Asset Accounting we are defining the number ranges for Document Type AF Externally. Even though we given Ext no ranges why the system picking Automatically.... What could be the reason

Hi,
There are two books. Asset Accounting and Financial Accounting. Asset depreciation are posted first in Asset Accounting, hence the number interval in AA remains internal, whereas when it posts the same in FI, to have consistency we keep the same document number and hence we specify the document number as external which is passed on by Asset Accounting. This is SAP standard.

You have a SAP version pre 4.7.
Your depreciation is posted via a batch file, to ensure consistency the document number is assigned by the AA Module. So that this assigned number is used when you process the batch file the number range has to be set to external.

Number range information comes from a area in Asset Mgt and not through manual input.
This is standard SAP.
Once you are in ecc5 this will be changed to internal.
