Is there a way by which we can use gmail smtp as the mail server for the system.
Can someone please provide steps to do so plz/

The Problem is that gmail requires authentication so i think you can't send it trough sspaconnect.

why you need gmail as SMTP server?
this is the abap sneak preview trail edition and i want to enable smtp on it.
install some simple and free smtp server (look for it in google) and install it on your PC and configure the SCOT transaction.
You can also install IIS instead:
