BDLS

We took a copy of our production BW system and placed it on a new box. Basis did their work to get it ready.

Now I see:

Infosource

PRD300

Infopackage 1

Infopackage 2

I wanted to change PRD300 to DEV110. So I ran BDLS expecting to see:

Infosource

DEV110

Infopackage 1

Infopackage 2

But it does not look like it changed anything. Is BDLS the transaction to do this? Is there a follow up step to BDLS?

Thanks,

Chris

Hello Chris,

TCODE Rsa1 and choose menu item Tools and then Mapping of the source system names (shift + F6) Enter here your source system names.

Hope this helps,

Sarhan.

I went ahead and did this and entered a line that says OrSrceSyst = PRD300 & TargSrceSy = DEV110. But this does not appear to have effected anything.

Hi Chris after doing this all those transports should be deployed here again in order to get the effect.

So is this something that would have been helpful if it was done early in the process?

I don't think they used transports to move the data. My understanding was that they took a tape back up and restored it to create this new client. But I'm not sure what they did.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks for the replies. What we did was basically what Sarhan recommended in his two posts.

1. TCODE Rsa1 and choose menu item Tools and then Mapping of the source system names (shift + F6) Enter here your source system names.

2. Go To BW Production & create transport of Source systems with copy grouping.

3. Move transport back to new BW dev environment and import.

Where did you run BDLS and what where the parameters you have entered ?

You should also run BDLS on your source system, but that is not the issue you have. In Table RSLOGSYSDEST you can find all the logical systems in BW. If your DEV110 does not occur in this, then something went wrong in BDLS.

Kind regards,

Luc

We only ran it on BW. The person who ran it is not avaialble to me to get the parameters used. Do you know what the parameters should be for this type of run of BDLS? DEV110 is in table RSLOGSYSDEST.

If you look at the source systems in RSA1, do you see DEV110 ? Does the description still contain the PRD-description ? It might just be the description that is wrong.
