Difference in Query Stripping in various levels?

Former Member

Hi All,

1) I understand that Query stripping can be enabled at Universe, Query and Document level. If query stripping is applied at Universe, is it necessary to apply it in Query level as well. Do we see any advantage because of this?

2) Query stripping can be applied for OLAP universes, can it be applied to relational universes on databases? Are there any updations for query stripping in 4.2

Thanks in advance,

Akshara

Hi Akshara,

  1. If the Query level property and the Document level property are both enabled then the Query will be stripped. Otherwise, the Query will not be stripped. When there are multiple queries in a document, with setting the property for each query, you can activate query stripping on some of the queries and deactive it on the others.
  2. Query Stripping was originally only available for BICS based connectivity to BEx queries but was introduced for Relational database connections starting in BI 4.1 SP3.

You can find this information and also further details in the following sources:

I hope this helps.

Bence
