As beginners, we can proceed with XI-BPM without any idea of SAP. May be in later stage we may need to know SAP BP processes also.

I am working on BPM for the past couple of months, ignorance of SAP BP does not affect my progress till now. Hope it would affect soon to enlighten me.

Hi ,

I know that recv step starts the process but my qs is from which step i can call another workflow (Start,Stop,Send ,recv,Transformation)?

Thanks ,

If each process is considered as workflow in a scenario then " Block" is the suitable step that calls another workflow.

the steps (task or workitems) that u define in a IP becomes a workflow. so there are no such particular steps in a IP to call another IP.

hi,

so the BPM don't trigger a workflow in the SAP-System?!

I am confused and new to BPM. We have the Process-Editor in which we create BP. But there also exists SAP-Business-Workflow in R/3! Does these two topice correspond in some ways? Especially when we run the BP in XI?!

sry for these newbie question

SAP business workflows are used to define a business process that are not mapped in SAP. For instance a part number that is created in R3 needs to be mailed to the SC Manager. This is not preconfigured and hence using workflows we can bind this process in the existing business process. The same correlates WRT the BPM in XI. Execution of BPM initiates a workflow. When u compare the elements in IP and SAP workflow there exits some similarites in its processing and execution.

Hi, thx for the explanations but one last question:

Do i need to be familiar with SAP Workflow when i am trying to get in touch with XI - BPM? Or is this not necessary?

the recv/fork step in a bpm calls a workflow. but i believe there are no other steps that calls a separate workflow. The IP itself frames a workflow when triggered
