Gateway Host and Gateway Service

Hi, well i have an external EDI-Server which i have to send some IDocs to.

Therefore on the EDI-Server runs a daemon which checks if IDocs are coming in. The EDI-Admin now gave me the order to create a TCP/IP Connection in SM59 with a registered server program which in my understanding seems to be the damon process of the EDI-Server.

Now what are the parameters for Gateway-Service and Gateway-Server? Are these the ones from SMGW concerning my XI-Machine?!

Actually i didn't get the point on how the daemon-process on the other machine is getting the info that an IDoc in arriving at the EDI-Server?!

How are Gateway-Service and Gateway-Server are involveld and what are there functions in this RFC-Connection?!
