Hello experts,

We just start a proyect in BPC 10.1 embedded on NW 7.5. I found out with documentation that the BPC Dimension are now created in BW using Hana studio. My question is the next:

"In the examples I have seen in the web, I see that all dimension for the model consolidation are created as Z. Is there the best practice or can I use the std BW Characteristics such as 0GL_ACCOUNT (Accounts - A), 0COMP_CODE (for company - E), 0PLAN (for Category - C), 0CURRENCY (Currency - R)?

Thaks for the posts.

Best Regards.

Hi,

I suggest to read the documentation first:

https://help.sap.com/viewer/a2049170bfeb4178ace32222842c3ec1/10.1/en-US/2259a5df882e4454b112e2d1f1bc...

There you can read that BW InfoObjects have to be assigned to dimension types needed by the BPC consolidation engine. The old InfoObjects from Business Content (0GL_ACCOUNT, etc.) were designed long ago for BW reporting and not for BPC, thus you have to check whether all the attributes needed by BPC are contained in these objects. This might not be the case. In the latter case you have to create your on BW InfoObjects you need.

Gregor

Thank you very much for the post Gregor,

I am reading the post as you suggested, It makes sense to me to create everything from scratch and I did, Im redoing some work Bc I am working with a BW Consultant and we are changing some dimension names. In the links mentions what to create and how to create it, i really appreciate the documentation link. I know that 0GL_ACCOUNT doesn't have by std all the Dimension Properties (Attributes in BW) for Consolidation, but what would be beter, to modify the std characteristic 0GL_ACCOUNT and create the attributes needed or to have ZBPC_CACC for instance and then map it in the BPC admin with the A - type dimension along with their properties.
