HI,

To check if your system is unicode or not go to System -> Status -> theres a field called "Unicode System" if the value is Yes is Unicode, if the value sais no is Non-Unicode

Thats it.

Hello Venkat,

Very simple as soon as you logon to SAP there is something called System in menu bar. Click on that go to Status in that. In SAP System Data you find something called Unicode System if it is set to Yes your system is Unicode if its no its non unicode.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

My system is 4.6c, and I dont have the field 'UNICODE System'. Does this mean my system is not UNICODE compliant?

Where else can we check in my case.

Venkat

Hi Venkat,

go to SM51 and click on one instance and then click on Release Notes, Usually under ICU version it mention if the system is unicode or not.

Also, you can try using <b>disp+work -v</b> on the commandline at the OS level, you'll need to be logged on as <sid>adm.

Hi Juan,

I guess it doesnot work. One of our systems is non unicode but ICU version mentions unicode release !!

I guess the best thing to do is to probably go to SMLT and check if mutiple code pages are available ! Not a great approach though.

May be the report RSCPINST also may help.

Also, in SMLT click the information icon beside the language and at the very end theres a tick box named "Unicode System" if its ticked is Unicode and if not then is non-unicode.

Hi Juan,

The check box is not available in 4.6C. I guess if we have mutiple code pages as per the report RSCPINST then we can assume it is non-unicode.

But even that wont be so good coz what if all the languages installed in the system are of same code page. 4.6 ain't so helpful I guess.

One more way is an indirect way. If you have any SAP_BASIS 640 or higher system then create an RFC destination for the 4.6C system in it and then do a unicode test.

That will definitely tell you whether your 4.6C system is unicode or non uincode.
