SAP WM putaway strategy for different storage heights

Dear all,

we face a problem which might sound simple but we cannot find a solution to it.

We are implementing SAP WM in a new warehouse of ours.

Materials come in on pallets (normally on euro-pallets with a height of 1.40 meters). Materials itself can have totally different dimensions

(e.g. ([48 pens in a packaging unit) x16 on an euro-pallet] or [3 suitcases on an euro-pallet].)

Now we have several storage racks (each with 5 levels):

- the 1st level has a height of 0.90 meters (storage bin type E0)

- the 2nd to 4th level have a height of 1.20 meters (storage bin type E1)

- the 5th level has a height of 1.40 meters (storage bin type E2)

Each material in SAP is measured in pieces bus also have the conversion to "packaging units" and "pallets". Pallets in this case mean pallets with a height of 1.80 meters.

We don't use storage unit types because the administrative effort would be too big.

When material comes to our warehouse, the system should check if there is already a storage bin with this material. In this case it should add it to the stock. BUT only up to the height of the storage bin type. Otherwise a new storage bin should be used.

So now my question:

Which putaway strategy can we use without having to use 3 different storage unit types?

I would be extremely thankful for any help or insight.

Best regards,

Jan

Although storage unit types would be the most obvious in this case, perhaps you could consider a quantity/capacity check also.

    Hello,

SU management will help you in maintaining Palletization data. What is the constraint for SU management?

I think bulk strategy with high rack storage type will help you, For palatalization create material with palatalization in wm view 2 and maintain the pallet for storage type i think it will help i am not sure.
