Report output and Smartform output

Hi,

I want to know why is there is a difference in the report output and the smartform or script output?

for ex: Report output will dullish blue background where in form it is white,

Font size and style is fixed but here we can have what ever.

I want what makes this different?

hi,

u can use the tables instead of designing inreport as sy-vline,sy-uline.

alignment is easier in smartform rather than report.

for company purpose we can use smart form and scripts,

for user purpose v use reports.

Thank you,thats fine, point is how internally the Forms have an attribute like White background and different Font size (and family), but the reports doesn't have these.

What is the reason behind this?

Hi prabhu,

1. The main reason is that it is designed that way by sap.

Report output = <b>mainly to see data on screen</b>

Sapscript/smartform = Mainly for printing hardcopy documents like purchase order, sales order etc.

So, in printing, the page is always white normally, and hence, that kind of look is given

The output of sapscript/smartform should exactly

show on screeen as it is going to be printed.

In windows terminology it is called WYSIWYG

(What you see is what you get)

- just like microsoft word print preview functionality

reports are older than smartforms...so they don't have such attributes...but people use reports because they are functionally much simpler than smartforms
