Material Classification Attribute

Can anyone help us as to how classification attributes are filled . We need to

extracted the data for material classification attributes for 0MATERIAL. While extraction characteristics for 0MATERIAL - we get a error saying the key field of the classification characteristics datasource and master data data source does not match. This may be becoz the MATNR field is not being extracted but when we try to add this field on R/3 in transaction CTBW it says 'Object does not exists'.

we are extracting the following fields through the characteristic data source

ATWRT

DATEFROM

DATETO

LANGU

TEXT

I found this a bit tricky and had to hack at it for awhile before I could get it to work.

Here is how I added a few Class Type 001 characteristics:

1.) Go to CTBW

2.) Under Datasources, add the following:

Basis Datasource Client Class Type Obj. table DataSource Type DataSource

0MATERIAL_ATTR 500 001 MARA ATTR 1CL_OMAT002

3.) Select the characteristics tab and choose new entries. (you need to select your new datasource line before selecting characteristics and pressing "new entries).

4.) Enter in the Classification Characteristics you want to load:

Datasource Characteristic Name Item Maint... Characteristic Datasource Typ

1CL_OMAT002 COMMODITYCODE N 1CL_ACOM001 CHA

Note: Datasource is the one you just created, Char Name is the technical name of your classification characteristic, Item was left blank, each characteristic had it's own datasource.

5.) Generate the datasources.

6.) Load 1CL_OMAT002 into 0MATERIAL in BW and you can load the individual characteristic datasources if you need texts.

This will work for Material Classification type 001. Other classification types may need a different object table or base datasource.
