Slow Application Sharing

Former Member

Hello all,

I am working with Collaboration on a test system. I noticed that with application sharing, even sharing an application like MS Word between two hosts in the same LAN is really slow. When the session host (which is always running the portal on the EP server) releases control to a session guest, the guest could only run the program really slowly, even moving the mouse cursor around is a hassle! And that is the only application session that is running-- with only one session guest.

Anything one could do to improve the speed. The portal host has around 6gb of ram and we have two SAP systems installed. One is ECC5.0 on an ABAP system, and the other is a Java Standalone running the Portal.

Thanks,

Charles

Hi,

Also check out what settings are for PollingIntervalBasis in your RTC Engine (it should be low):

Thanks for your reply.

I have set the polling interval as 'Constant'. But even with only two threads running and setting the interval to 1 or 0 seconds, there is still a considerable lag time (of 0.5 to 1 second) when the guest takes control of the session.

hmm..

I have more or less the same lag time on a session on my dev box. It's about the same as if I was remoting a workstation via SMS.

I never did think that the performance was supposed to be like a terminal server connection. You are still going through the Portal, it is sort of a bottle neck.

That can be done by assigning points.
