Hi,

Check the Left navigation area in Desktop innerpage which is in the Framework Page.

If you already have the IView you want to add, then open the Framework Page and add it to Left navigation panel in Desktop innerpage page.

There are also some useful IViews which can show links in detailed navigation, so check them if they suite your needs:

Dynamic Navigation, Related Links and Portal Favorites

Hi Manish,

I guess you need to show the iView in the left hand side like the detail navigation? If thats the case then you have to add your iVIew in your Framework Page. If you have your own framework page then open it. If you are using the portal default one then you can open it from Portal Content -> Standard Portal Users. Though I would suggest you copy this and create your own framework page.

Once you have the framework page opened you will see a Page object named 'Desktop Innterpage' - select that and open it. Now add your iView on this page by right clicking. Now to position your iVIew in proper place of the left hand panel - select the Page Layout radio button and in the resultant view drag your own iView somewhere in the left hand Navigation Panel area.

But if I put in desktop inner page it will be available to all workset , and I want this iView in only one workset .

You are right - desktop innerpage willput that in all pages. I didnt understand earlier that you want it only for one page / workset.

What you can do in this case is under your workset add a page which will hold this iView in the place of detail navigation. Select a narrow wide two column layout for this page. Now you add the iView ou want see in the detail nav space in the narrow column and keep the normal iView in the main content (wide) column. In the narrow column you can also add the detail navigation iView or any others so that they gets displayed one after another. Now - your problem will be that you will have the actual detail navigation in the left - then again a narrow strip with your own iView. To overcome this you can simply hide the actual detail navigation panel from the display of this page object. To do this open the page object - change the property named "Intial State of Navigation Panel" to "Close". The the actual detail navigation will be always hidden - and you can only see your own narrow strip of iViews as set up by you.

Hello Manish,

By navigation Panel, I suppose you mean Top Level Navigation. Assign the iview to any role. Now in the role property set "Entry Point" to NO. In the iview property set "Entry Point" to YES. Now assign the role to the user. Now ur iview will be visible at Top Level Navigation.

HI,

now need of any settings,

create the follwoing hierarchy in your content administration.

Role ( set entry point to role )

folder

iview

now when you assign this role to end user

you will find the role in top level navigation when you press it, you can see the folder below toplevel navigation and your iview will be available in Detailed Navigation .

Hi Manish,

As mentioned by Venkatesh, create a role and then create folders under the role. Each folder will be a tab on the detail navigation. Under each folder, you can assign your iviews. For example:

MyWork (Role)

- SAP (folder)

- transaction (iview)

- Report (folder)

- BW report (iview)

You can do all these in Content Administration. Make sure that you have your Role as entry point so that it appears on the top navigation.

Hope that helps.

Raymond,

To have the iview appear in the detailed navigation of another page, open the target page iview in the content adminstration, and open the Dynamic Navigation Property and add the iview, that you want in the detailed navigation to that.It should now appear in the detailed navigation.

Thanks

Even the discussion is 3 yrs old - you pointed me in the correct direction - so thank you!

In the page LAYOUT of your page object, place the iView in the Navigation panel...just that easy. 😃
