Batch with no Class assigned (No Classification)

Hi All,

Have a material with no classification view.

(1) Is it possible to have a batch with no class in it ? If yes, what needs to be done in configuration ?
(2) How does system determine the class for a newly created batch for a material with no classification view ? In my system, I have 2 classes X & Y and the system always picks X and prompts to enter the characteristics during TO Creation.
