Hi All,

Have a material with no classification view.

(1) Is it possible to have a batch with no class in it ? If yes, what needs to be done in configuration ?
(2) How does system determine the class for a newly created batch for a material with no classification view ? In my system, I have 2 classes X & Y and the system always picks X and prompts to enter the characteristics during TO Creation.

Thanks-

Okay just now, I found out that it is possible to have a batch with no classification if the movement type is configured with No branching to classification.
But my requirement is to constrain this functionality to a single plant.

And the first answer is a question like in so many discussions here:

What is your batch level?

How can you have 2 batch classes?

Why is the classification entry coming in TO creation and not when doing the receipt with MIGO?

My batch level is Material.
We have 2 batch classes for different company codes.
Our process is MIGO happens in the end, from inbound delivery, we perform TO creation, post confirmation material document is created.

I just want to know how to prevent class from being included for a newly created batch.
The newly created batch should not have any class.

company code does not play any role in a material master and 2 batch classes cannot be maintained in one material. You can only maintain one batch class in the material master and this one defaults to the batch master.

Exactly in my case, we have not created classification view itself for the material. So we have no included any class for the material. In such a case, my system was able to determine the class and request to enter characteristics during TO Creation. So where did I go wrong ?

Sorry, can't believe that SAP would randomly pick a batch class if none is assigned in the material master, are you sure that no user had its finger in the game? If yes then you can probably open an incident at SAP support.

IMG -> Logistics Execution -> Shipping -> Deliveries -> Define Batch Creation Controls in Inbound Deliveries

Here you define whether your create batches and what you do with classification.
