Hello Guys -
Can TLB limit the number of shipments and level it out or does it fall into TPVS functionality?
Example: My TLB output is 3 shipments from A to 1, 3 shipments from A to 2, 3 shipments from A to 3, but I can only ship only 6 shipments per day
(period) and want to move ( level out) the other 3 to the next period.
Appreciate your help!
Thanks

functionality may not be within TLB but is there way to do this with SNP?
I created a transportation resource assigned it to a means of transport, generated STOs but when I go into the capacity leveling view and pull up the resource to level out, it does not show any consumption or usage. I still my full transportation capacity.

I probably did not understand the solution in context of your question. I thought you wanted to create 6 shipments in total from A to anywhere. How will this be solved by defining transportation resources for each of the t-lanes? You are trying to solve a global constraint problem with local constraints. Maybe I misunderstood, can you elaborate on your problem?
Did you try using constraints in the Handling resource at source location A? This should resolve the problem of 6 shipments per day.
Hi Srinivas -
I am still looking into Handling Resources option but just noticed that you are an ex-i2 SCP guy! so, I will do my best to explain it to you better.
So this is what I am trying to achieve in APO. Currently this is the i2 process
1) i2 Supply planner creates a plan.( SNP Heu)
2) i2 MDS creates the stock transfers( APO Deployment)
I can have at this point a constraint of 10 shipments in a table for source location A. If I do not set this, i2 SS would create 14 shipments.
3) run i2 Shipment Scheduler ( TLB). to get 10 shipments.
Thanks for your help!

Srinivas -
Can you please help me understand how do we make an STO/TLB Shipment( or a T-lane?) of lets say a qty 50 pieces consume capacity on the handling resource( with lets say a capacity of 100 pieces per day) ? I did not find any documentation on handling resources and we are on 4.1.
The documentation just talks about Handling Units/Groups but also says SNP TLB does not consider handling units.
Thanks for your help

I am not sure if you can handle resources in TLB. I am sorry if you got that impression from my earlier mail. I would rather handle the situation in SNP with handling resource or a common transportation resource (like you suggested). I would use a Fixed-Lot strategy for the Product Master which will have a shipment size equivalent. The max resource consumption of the handling/common transportation resource can be made 6 times the fixed lot you set at Product Master. Deployment and TLB can further work on resource-planned orders since they just decide when to move products and the latter just groups the products.
I will let you know if I can think of something better.
Srinivas
