How to post a system message to the SAP Portal version 7.0

Dear All,

We are running the SAP Netweaver Portal 7.0 which we once a month have to shutdown for maintenance reasons. I just want to know if there is now a builtin feature in the SAP portal to port a System message to alert the users of this downtime.

On the ABAP side I can do this via SM02 but is there a similar function in the portal itself without having to change the ABAP configuration.

Anyone knows how I can achieve this?

All users should have a home tab.

You can use the news iView in order to publish a message there which will be visible to all users.

To publish message in the news iView you need to use the XML forms builder to create news item or to use the ready-made SAP_APP_NEWS xml application.

Run a search on SDN for these terms, you'll find your way around.

    Hope it helps,

    Hi Owen,

I donĀ“t know of any portal feature like that.

You can create an iview, which points to a special KM Folder where you put the required text. This iview should be lengthy max 2 lines of text and maybe with a red background.

Put this iview in the page framework under the toolbar iview. With the property visible, you can control the appearance. This can be of course automated in a custom iview.

Could anyone please post some screenshots with the location of this iview and folder? I have some difficulties finding the right things in order to perform these steps.

Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

      Kind regards,
