Updated format causes details in a group to start list in middle for the first record?

The Original.PNG attached shows a test Stub/Check/Stub from our ERP system that is using the original .RPT file and the top stub (which is in the details section within the group) shows the invoices starting at the top and working their way down the list. Same for the bottom stub (which is a subreport). original.png

The Changed.PNG attached shows the same test Stub/Check/Stub from our ERP system and the only difference is that I saved the .RPT file into the latest format with CR 2016. Now the detail section list begins the list on Line 6 instead of at the top and then begins the second invoice at the top with the remaining invoices in order. The bottom stub reacts the same as the original file. changed.png

I would like to know if there is a setting in the group or some difference between the older versions of CR (before CR9) when listing details within a group vs. 2016? How can I ensure that if I save the .RPT file in 2016 format that the list will start from the top?

I am using Crystal Reports 2016 independently.

Thank you for your time in advance.

In Section expert is there any suppression rules for details section.

Have you checked suppress blank section for details.

In Preview mode can you show this section and how it corresponds to the data, if you have a details section corresponding to your blank space then it is a section control problem which can be resolved in section expert or changing order of data. Could be that in original order of data is such that blank appears at end of list and is therefore not seen.

@Ian Waterman, if using the original file that has not been saved in 2016 yet and go to preview mode, I get two Verify Database messages, twice in succession, before it opens the preview mode (maybe this is the issue?). The first record then shows up on the sixth line of the stub instead of the first line. Bottom stub works fine (subreport).

This looks like a data issue you can see that query has generated 16 records 15 are blank.

You need to check your table joins or your command and eliminated the Null records.

Perhaps when report upgraded the table joins went all wrong.

I do believe this may be the issue, I will get with the ERP software development folks and determine how the table and/or joins have changed from previous versions to help determine why this is happening. Thank you for your time and expertise Ian!

p.s. Not sure how to mark the reply as an answer or if I should mark the top comment as the answer...

No Problem

Probably tick the answer at the top of this comment thread. It will then move to top of form.

Just another thought.

Do you still have the old version?

If yes go to top menu and select Database -> Database expert-> Links tab.

Compare joins from the two versions. Also right click join lines and see type, ie inner, left outer etc and make sure new version is same as old.
