Good Afternoon.
I have two system SAP NW'04s, with differents server:
a) Web As ABAP + BI ABAP
b) Web As ABAP + Web As Java + EP Core + EP + BI Java
Both have same database Oracle 10g and Operative System Windows 2003.
I have problems with the configuration for the integration Bex Web into the SAP Portal.
Firts, I executed the following basic steps for automatically configuring the BI Java usage type for integration to the portal:
1. Call the template installer by choosing quick link /nwa: http://tsportal:50000/nwa
2. Under scenario, select BI Java.
3. Choose the BIPostInstallProcess template. Under Template, the individual steps that are executed by this template are also provided.
4. Choose Execute Template.
But,in the step 22 "WD JCO Dest. BI_METADATA", I have the following error message:
"Error: ABAP Backend doesn't exist in SLD"
How can I solve the problem???.
Best regards.
Luis Gomez.
Create a local SLD. This is required for Web Dynpro to work correctly.

Hi Manfred,
did you solve your Problem?
We had the same prob.
Solution in our situation was:
Check that the template uses the correct SLD:
visual admin -> server -> services -> Config adapter ->CTC -> propertysheet. Check SLD_* parameters and correct, if necessary.
Check all PWs in visual admin -> server -> services -> SLD-DATA Supplier
Reset all PWs of SLDDSUSER and - if necessary - unlock in any System
Log on to SLD with SLDDSUSER and check if he has correct role - if necessary assigne role.
Hi Johannes,
thank you for your help. You told me the correct solution.
Yesterday we got the solution for our problem from the SAP support (first response after two weeks !!).
The solution was the same that you told me also:
The SLD parameters of the CTC -> propertysheet were wrong. We didn't know these parameters. We checked only the SLD-Data Supplier parameters and these were correct.
Kind regards
Manfred

Hello Tim,
I tried the message below of SAP OSS message but doesn´t work for my system, try to chech if in your system works:
=======================================================
Dear Customer,
This message has been forwarded to Installation tools component.
I would like you to check first whether all prerequisites for the
BI template installer are fully met - that is:
1. Check the general prerequisistes for the BI-JAVA template installer
as described per note # 923359
2. Especially check that SSO is enabled as per note # 983156
3. Make sure that the latest LMTOOL-patches are applied - refer to Note
1. 1026840.
If the issue should still persist I would like you to provide:
1. screenshots/of the template installer at the step(s) where it fails
2. default.trc
3. applications.log
This problem usually comes when you create the JCO destination through
SLD and
than try to access it from web dynpro content administrator.
It is recommended to create JCO destination through web dynpro content
adminitrator.
Logon to SLD and search the engine on which you are working and than
click on JCO Destinations tab.
Please make sure all the JCO destinations under your working engine
should be removed and after that configure the JCO destination from Web
Dynpro content admin by rerun the steps of template installer.
Please check that the template uses the correct SLD.
You can goto the visual admin -> server -> services -> Config adapter ->CTC -> propertysheet. You can check the SLD_* parameters.

Hello,
at the moment we have the same problem with the BI_JAVA Template installer (Step 22: WD JCO Dest. BI_METADATA, Error: ABAP Backend doesn't exist in SLD) and as well no solution.
We use the szenario b) in our company (BI 7.0 system Web As ABAP and Web AS Java and EP Core and EP and BI Java on the same system).
If you got a possible solution please let us known.
Best regards
Manfred Bantle
