Change of Attributes

Can any one please tell me what is the impact on changing the attributes of infoobjects from display to nav or vicesa-versa. If data already exists in the Master data dables and cube which uses them as dimensions. would it be just sufficent to run a attrib/change. assuming there are no aggregates defined on the cube.

Also i was interested in the background process of how the dimension tables will be impacted.

any help on this appreciated, points will be assigned for relevant answers. many thanks.

Priya

I am still puzzled on one portion of the question . i.e if there is data in the Master data tables and if we change the attributes, will it re-align the complete master data or do we have to re-load the master data for it to get aligned.

stefan i know you mentioned the S table is the link but can you pls give little more details on that i.e field CHCKFL and DATAFL it implies value is there in the check tables and value in dim or attrib table.

thanks

Hi priya

it wont have any impact jst the diff will be if u change an attribute to nav attr u dont need it to be present in the cube and can b directly used as a char and if u convert it to disp then they wont b available

thanks

Hi Priya,

Attributes are stored in the InfoObject's P- and Q-tables. SIDs of navigational attributes are stored in X- and Y-tables. There is no direct relationship between the D-tables of an InfoCube and the X- or Y-tables of an InfoObject. There is always the InfoObject's S-table in between.

So, changing an attribute's mode in an InfoObject just means to fill (respectively delete) X- or Y-tables. If you do not have aggregates, you even do not need to do an attribute change run.

Kind regards,

Stefan
