SAP ECC to S/4 HANA Migration Process

I would like to know the significance of BASIS and ABAP resources in ECC to S/4 HANA migration. What's the roles of functional consultants? Also what are the common issues while migrating to S/4 HANA? Thanks in Advance.

Hello Amar,

That is a big question, but I would like to give you some indication.

To start with, it depends on whether you plan to do a new implementation, a system conversion or a landscape transformation, but typically

• BASIS runs the readiness check for S/4HANA and does the installation of the new system or the conversion of the existing system.
• ABAP check the custom code analysis and adopt the code accordingly.
• Functional consultants check the S/4HANA simplification items and recommended Fiori apps as well as the add-on compatibility to implement the required configuration changes.

In my experience, it could become a challenge to combine too much into the S/4HANA transition. I would therefore recommend to implement functions like the Business Partner or Material ledger upfront as well as cleanse and rightsize your data.
