Myinbox approval locking approach

We're working on moving some approval workflows to the Fiori Myinbox app.

So for that to happen I've created a user decision for approve/reject and on the front-end we have all information needed for an approver to approve or reject.

Then we have a badi implementation of /IWWRK/IF_WF_WI_BEFORE_UPD_IB to handle the approval or rejection using the approvers user-id.

My question is what is the best approach to handle exceptions like no authorization to approve or Purchase Order is locked. I didn't see an exception in the method.

So... would it suffice to just fill in the CT_RETURN parameter with a message of type E? Will this then move the User decision back to the inbox? Anyways I'll have time on Friday to test if this is enough, there is also no way to put it on a temporary error is there?

Kind regards, Rob Dielemans
