Serial number status changes during PO receipt

Is there a way to change config on serial numbers so that when a PO is received with serial numbers entered in the PO that the status of the serial number does not change. The status of the serial number needs to be available while the material is in the inventory.

Is it possible to maintain in STD.

When you make a goods receipt to a serialzed part, then it is put into stock with a status-ESTO in Inventory. This status stays the same until it is trnsacted out of inventory. So I am not sure what other status you are looking for?
