Change Chart of Account

What must I consider if I like to change the chart of accounts AAAA to chart of accounts BBBB in a company code which has already posted documents? A concurrent number rearrangement should also occur. Is there any documentation available?

Why would you want to change the CoA?

Do you want to rename it?

Is there a business reason behind this?

Do you want to use the same GL accounts as before?

Consider what would happen if you changed your CoA, and then wanted to reverse or re set a GL item, you would not be able to do it.

If there is a real business reason behind your request I would suggest you create a brand new Company Code, assign that to a new CoA, wait for the end of your Fiscal Year and then switch.

A: All posted document should be changed

A: With a new CC we would lose all history from the CC.

Why dont you just block a few of the GL accounts in your CoA?

If it has become a big mess, everything will be seen as a big mess, in terms of reporting.

If you create a new Company Code you will have a new start.

The reason to change the CoA is the following. The client has several Company codes (CC) with the same CoA. Only 1 CC has a different one. Now they want to use the same CoA as all CC already use, without changing the CC.

Hi,

In this case contact SAP, they might have the tools / Technical experience to be able to carry out such a change.

It will be much more expensive, than creating a new CC and migrating the data.

U cannot change the chart of account once transactions have been posted to the company code.
