Question about Transport of Workflow Templates

Former Member

Question concerning to the transport (objects included in the transport

are workflow templates). I noticed within the transport I have

created for the workflow template object(s) - it has a section

under "Request Attributes" - SAPCOMPONENT. I didn't add those

SAPCOMPONENT - I don't know what they are. I am assuming that it is

somehow link to the workflow template objects that were included by

standard SAP feature. My main concern is that I am release these

transports from one system to another system. The two systems are in

two different LCP patch level. I just want to make sure that releasing

the transport with the workflow object(s) should only impact the

workflow template object(s) - SAPCOMPONENT will not impact the LCP

patch level to the target system.

Hi Jennifer,

I am no basis consultant but I don't think you have to worry. The LCP patch level will not be impacted. I think this just information about the level of the system the transport is created on. I have transported before between systems with different patch levels without problems in this area. As far as I know this section is alway added.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your reply. I tend to agree with you that this should not impact the LCP patch level at all. I noticed that section is always added for workflow and any smartforms - or graphics related development.

Here's SAP support answer to this question.

when you display a transport request e.g. in SE09 via doubleclick

in the request, you can use the tab 'Properties' in order to see some

information, e.g. short text, project, target, sourceclient,

owner, status, last changed date and also a table with

attributes, attribute descriptions and attribute values.

One of these attributes is called SAPCOMPONENT. It should contain

for released transport requests all components which were in the

export system at the export time and their support package levels

at the export time.

When you import such a request to another system, it will NOT change the support package level of the other system. This information should be

checked BEFORE the import. E.g. if the request contains only 2 objects

and both belong to the component SAP_BASIS then you should check

before an import of this request which support package level the

request's attribute SAPCOMPONENT mentiones for SAP_BASIS (e.g. 10) and

you would check which support package level the import system has for

this component (SAP_BASIS in this case). If the import system has a

different support package level than the transport request

(in this example Basis Support Package level 10) then

you would know that you may NOT import this request due to wrong

support package level.
